The DSRA team, comprising President Nasir Jahangir Rifat, CEC Member Engr. Sehba Nabi & DSRA Member Engr. Zaheer Ahmed visited three sites where new storm water drainage work was in progress and the site where the outlet of these drains was being constructed. It was very perturbing to note that all the three sites have either been handed over by NLC to three different sub-contractors or DHA is using the name to show that NLC is executing the work which is not true. The men working and wearing NLC jackets at site are not NLC employees. One such private contractor was awarded 800 meters, the other 1 kilometer and the third one over 3 kilometers. The work was not being carried out as per NED recommendations. No meeting has yet been called by DHA with residents, their representatives & recommended experts. How much each contractor is being paid or on what rates the work has been awarded is unknown. We have serious concerns and questions on the Competence, Quality of work and design. Merger of old and new drains and material being used is a big concern too. The outlet constructed on the Seaview beach is also not environment friendly and the way water and sewage from the old rain water drain is being pumped out and thrown on the beach is a serious issue and concern.
